God first presented to the Old Testament patriarch, Abraham this concept of blessing His people. He began with this promise to Abe, “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). Did you notice the critical turn in God’s equation? You will be blessed in order that you can be a blessing. God’s plan has always been to bless the world through men and women who are wholly given up to him. No enthusiasm we can express could tip the scales, no intensity of devotion goes too deep, no sacrifice is too large when we see the good things we experience as a way to pass along God’s blessing to others. I have not been the blessing God has intended me to be.
