Forgiving Solomon Long

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

When a Kansas City coalition of store owners and clergy tries to break the grip of organized crime, a mobster flies in cold-blooded hit man Solomon Long to knock off
influential members. But when one of his kills goes horribly awry, everything Solo believes in comes crashing down ...

Chris Well, an award-winning magazine editor and writer, is editor for Homecoming Magazine and contributing editor for CCM Magazine. He and his wife make their home
in Nashville, Tennessee. Forgiving Solomon Long is his first novel.

Forgiving Solomon Long was the first Christian Fiction Novel I have ever read. Chris Well did an amazing job with Solomon. His style of writing was very different for me and it took me a couple of chapters to get into the groove and hear the voice, but once I did, it was smooth sailing from then on. I was sad when it ended and I wanted to know more about Solomon Long.

I must say that I was quite surprised with Forgiving Solomon Long. I'm not your typical CBA reader. I'm a Christian. I love and worship God. But I have found that I'm not typically attracted to books that aren't "hard" or "real". I've been pleasantly surprised recently. Maybe people need to write better book jackets!

The characters in Forgiving Solomon Long are very real. I didn't think a gangster book could be written in a Christian style, but Chris Well proved me wrong! And I think I'll always remember fruit pies. (You'll just have to read it!) Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Nice blog, Michelle, and wonderful book recommendation. It's not that often that PUblisher's Weekly has a good review of a newcomer's book. All the reviewers seem to agree that the end of the book was too fast, missing some atmosphere, but since they all liked it anyway, that's a good sign.
